Police Host National Night Out Against Crime

Residents gathered at North Union and Springfield avenues for the annual crime prevention event.

National Night Out is a nationwide event designed to promote crime prevention awareness. It also allows the public to interact with members of the police department and obtain information about the department's main programs.

The event included displays of police vehicles, including a police car, zodiac boat, motorcycle and an emergency services unit. A DJ and face painter were also on hand. For the fourth year in a row, a blood drive will also be held during National Night Out. This year the drive is to celebrate all that’s great about Cranford nearly a year since Hurricane Irene. Members of Cranford PBA 52 distributed free Italian ices to all in attendance as well.
