Police Make Alcohol, Marijuana, Heroin, Cocaine Arrests

Cranford police made alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and heroin arrests over the New Year's week. Details:

Wednesday, December 30:
Officer Timothy O'Brien stopped a vehicle on Raritan Road at 3:10 p.m. for what appeared to be an obstructed view violation. Through further investigation the 37-year-old male driver from Orange was arrested for possession of marijuana, paraphernalia, CDS in a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and obstructed view.

Officer Robert Jordan stopped a vehicle on North Avenue East at 8:52 p.m. for not having its headlights on. Through further investigation the driver 42-year-old female driver from Newark was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of cocaine, and possession of CDS paraphernalia. She was issued summonses for driving with no headlights, obstructed view, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.

Thursday, December 31:
Officer Eugene Perrotta stopped a vehicle on North Avenue near Lincoln Avenue at 1:30 a.m. for going through a red light. The 36-year-old male driver from Roselle Park was arrested for driving while intoxicated and charged with failure to stop for a red light and careless driving.

Officer Kelly Reider responded to a motor vehicle accident on Springfield Avenue at 7:21 p.m. The 40-year-old male driver from Bayonne was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving.

Friday, January 1:
Officer Donald Zsak checked out an occupied vehicle in the Homewood Suites lot at 12:15 a.m. Through further investigation passenger a 24-year-old male from Irvington was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Saturday, January 2:
Officer John Rattigan stopped a vehicle on North Avenue for driving with a headlight out at 1:18 a.m. Through further investigation the 20-year-old male driver from Edison and the 29-year-old male passenger from Metuchen were arrested for possession of heroin and possession of paraphernalia. The driver was also charged with CDS in a motor vehicle, driving without a license, and maintenance of headlights.

Sunday, January 3:
Officer Nadia Jones stopped a vehicle for going through a red light at the intersection of North and Springfield avenues at 11:25 p.m. Through further investigation the 27-year-old male driver from Elizabeth was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop for a red light, and driving with an expired drivers license.
