Police Make Warrant Arrests

Cranford police activity from September 22-29.

Cranford police arrested one for driving while intoxicated, and two with active criminal warrants this week. Details:

Thursday, September 24:
Officer Robert Jordan stopped a vehicle on Centennial Avenue near South Avenue at 2:22 a.m. for careless driving. The driver, Robert Shell, 30, of Edison was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with careless driving.

Saturday, September 26:
Officer Timothy O'Brien was conducting a security check of the Cranford Train Station ar 8:18 a.m.when he encountered a person who was slouched over and appeared to be sleeping. O'Brien was advised that the sleeping person was Mario Aasmae, 20, from Cranford and had an active criminal warrant out of Roselle Park. While being processed at the Cranford Police Department, O'Brien discovered that Aasmae was in possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was charged with the possession of controlled dangerous substance.

Monday, September 28:
Officer Brian Lopez stopped a bicyclist riding on Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road without a light at 11:40 p.m. The rider, William Mcgettigan, 32, of Rahway, had an active warrant out of Rahway. He was placed under arrest and also charged with possession of cocaine and narcotic paraphernalia. Mcgettigan could not make bail and was released to the Rahway Police Department.
