Police Nab Suspects With Outstanding Warrants, Respond to Blown Transformer

Cranford police arrested suspects for outstanding warrants and responded to a blown tranformer off Lincoln Avenue in the last two weeks. Details:

Thursday, April 15:
Officer Brian Wagner stopped a vehicle on Centennial Avenue at Raritan Road at 11:56 p.m. for making an illegal left hand turn off the Garden State Parkway. Through further investigation the 29-year-old passenger from Montclair  was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Newark and Seaside Heights. Wagner found the passenger to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver was issued a summons for improper turn.

Monday, April 26:
Officer Steven D'Ambola stopped a vehicle on Elizabeth Avenue at 9:50 a.m. for a radar stop. Through further investigation the 20-year-old driver from Rahway was found to have a suspended drivers license and an active warrant out of Union. He was also in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Thursday, April 19:
At 3:19 p.m. the Cranford Police Department received a call that a transformer blew in the area of South Union Avenue and Lincoln Avenue East. Police found a primary wire smoking and on fire. It was also hanging in the lane of traffic. Police rerouted traffic until PS&EG could fix the problem. Police units then cleared the scene at 4:26 p.m. No injuries were reported. The blown transformer caused power outages in the area, including along Benjamin Street.
