Update: Cranford Man Arrested in Alleged Assault, Eluding Police

The Star-Ledger reports that Dylan O'Malley, 20, was charged with weapons possession and eluding police after he clipped a sheriff's elbow with his car.

Dylan O'Malley, 20, allegedly fled from a Newark traffic stop last night in an attempt to escape Essex County Sheriff's officers when Cranford police arrested him, the Star-Ledger reports. O'Malley, who lives in Cranford was held for the sheriff's officers and taken to Essex County jail on a $30,000 bond, according to the Ledger.

According to the report, O'Malley, who allegedly struck an officer with the mirror on his silver Saab as he was fleeing, was hit with the following charges:

Aggravated assault on an officer, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, eluding, and reckless driving charges, according to Armando Fontoura, the Essex County Sheriff.

Report: CPD Helps Nab Essex County Fugitive

AAccording to an unconfirmed report, Cranford police arrested a suspect wanted for aggravated assault on an Essex County Sheriff.

Cranford Police helped apprehend a fugitive wanted by the Essex County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday night, according to unconfirmed reports.

Around 9p.m. CPD pulled over a silver Saab wanted in connection with an aggravated assault on an Essex County Sheriff's Officer, according to the report.

The vehicle was pulled over near Elizabeth Avenue and Van Buren Avenue and was later impounded. At this time it's not clear the nature of the assault.
