Union County Police Blotter: Cranford Man Arrested For Drug Possession

The following information was provided by the Union County Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Jan. 9

  • A Plainfield man was arrested for marijuana possession following a motor vehicle stop on Jan. 9. At 11:43 a.m., Officer Matthew Schaible, during routine patrol on Kenyon Avenue in Plainfield, observed a motor vehicle violation allegedly committed by Eyon McQueen, 21, of Plainfield. Once Officer Schaible initiated a motor vehicle stop, further investigation revealed that McQueen had marijuana in his possession. McQueen was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where he issued a criminal complaint and motor vehicle summons and he in was finger printed a photographed and released in his own recognizance pending a court appearance in Plainfield Municipal court.

Jan. 12

  • A juvenile from Rahway was charged with possession of marijuana following an investigation on Jan. 12. Officer Blake Clay was flagged down by a concerned citizen who advised him that two juveniles were involved in possible narcotic activity on Washington Street in Rahway. Clay located the two juveniles and further investigation determined that one of the juvenile — a 16-year-old— had in his possession a small amount of marijuana. This juvenile was taken into custody and charged with the narcotic violation. He was later released to his parents. The other juvenile not charged with narcotic violation was released to his parent at the scene.

  • An Elizabeth male was charged with marijuana possession on Jan. 13. During routine patrol at 9:09 p.m. in Mattano Park in Elizabeth, Officer Keith Surhoff observed a suspect identified as Akeem Sanders, 21, of Elizabeth, acting in a suspicious manner and approached him for further investigation. Once Officer Surhoff approached Akenn Sanders, he allegedly found him to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Sanders was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where he issued a criminal complaint. Sanders was finger-printed a photographed and released pending a court appearance in Elizabeth Municipal Court.

Jan. 18

  • A Morris Plains man was arrested for marijuana possession during a routine motor vehicle stop. Officer Christopher Stanaway was on routine patrol at 2:51 a.m. when he observed an alleged motor vehicle violation on Morris Avenue in Union by Daniel Clavijo, 22, of Morris Plains. Once Officer Stanaway initiated a motor vehicle stop, further investigation revealed that Daniel Clavijo allegedly had in his possession marijuana and drug paraphernalia, two different types of pipes used to smoke marijuana. Clavijo was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where during processing a small amount of marijuana was found on him while he was being finger printed and photographed. Clavijo was charged with the possession of marijuana and the initial complaint of drug paraphernalia and the motor vehicle summons. He was processed and released in his own recognizance pending a court appearance in Union Municipal court.

  • An Elizabeth woman was arrested for marijuana possession on Jan. 19 in a county park. During routine patrol in Warinanco Park in Roselle at 3:32 p.m. Officer Matthew Schaible initiated a park and walk of a picnic area of the park. While conducting his walk, he approached an individual and smelled suspected marijuana. Officer Schaible approached a female later identified as Jennifer Gawronski, 34, of Elizabeth. Officer Schaible located a small amount of marijuana in her possession. Gawronski was placed under arrest and transported to Union County Police Headquarters where she issued a criminal complaint, finger-printed and photographed and released in her own recognizance pending a court appearance in Roselle Municipal court.
  • A Cranford man was arrested for marijuana possession on Jan. 19 on Harrison Street in Rahway. While on routine patrol at 12:53 p.m., Officer Blake Clay conducted a random license plate inquiry and determined that a motor vehicle was unregistered. The inquiry provided vehicle information and Officer Clay initiated a motor vehicle stop. Further investigation revealed that Troy Brown had in his possession a small amount of marijuana and a grinder used with the suspected marijuana. Brown was arrested for possession of marijuana and the drug paraphernalia and his vehicle was impounded. Brown was transported to Union County Police Headquarters where he issued a criminal complaint and motor vehicle summons. He in was fingerprinted a photographed and released of his own recognizance pending a court appearance in Rahway Municipal Court.
