Cranford Woman's Remains Found in Newark

Authorities continue to search for additional human remains.

The remains found Sunday afternoon in Newark have been identified as the Cranford mother of two who was allegedly killed last week at her boyfriend's Union Township home, the prosecutor's office said.

Wyckoff's remains were discovered near a branch of the Passaic River off of the 100 block of Raymond Boulevard in Newark, the Union County Prosecutor's Office announced Monday.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning, confirming the remains were Wyckoff, the prosecutor's office said.

The investigation remains ongoing and authorities continue to search for more human remains, the prosecutor's office said.

Authorities searched all weekend for Wyckoff's body in parts of Hudson, including at Liberty State Park, Essex and Union counties.

Matthew Ballister, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder for the alleged killing of Wyckoff in his Union Township home likely sometime last Tuesday night, the prosecutor's office said. Ballister is being held on $2 million bail.

Ballister's mother, Eleanor Schofield, 70, of Mountainside, was released from Union County Jail Friday on $1,500 bail, according to NJ.com. Schofield has been charged with hindering apprehension for allegedly helping her son conceal evidence following the killing, the prosecutor's office said.
