Brief: Planning Board to Discuss Riverfront Redevelopment Project

The Board will meet Wednesday at the Municipal Building at 8:00 p.m.

The Cranford Planning Board will discuss the Fourth Amended Redevelopment Plan at their regular meeting Wednesday night. Ordinance 2011-18, , deals with the Riverfront Redevelopment Project. If passed, the ordinance would allow developer Garden Homes to add 18 more apartment units to the Riverfront Redevelopment area for a total of 124 proposed units. Three units would qualify as affordable housing and be sold under the market rate.

The Project, which has been in development since 2007, aims to build five new buildings that will be used for both retail and residential purposes. If the Planning Board decides to move forward with the plan, Cranford will receive $700,000 in sewer and parking "impact fees," funds that will be used to offset township costs. The Board will meet at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building. Pending the Planning Board's comments, the ordinance will be considered for approval following a public hearing on June 14th.
