CHS Students Continue to Shadow Township Committee

Additional students from Cranford High School shadowed the committee this week.

Four Cranford seniors, who are interested in politics and local government, shadowed the Mayor and committee during Monday’s workshop meeting.

Kellie Joyce and William Budries are members of Cranford High School’s Youth and Government Club. Member, Thomas Philip, approached Mayor Tom Hannen about shadowing he and the committee since the students shared a common interest in local government.

Last meeting, Philip and three students from the group shadowed the committee. Those who could not attend had the opportunity to sit it on this past week’s meetings.

Joyce and Budries said sitting on the meeting was really interesting and that they are both very interested in politics and government.

“There’s definitely a lot more going on than you realize,” Joyce said.

Joyce is a senior at CHS, while Budries is a sophomore.

Budries explained that he is really interested in politics so it was good to see how things were done on a local level.

The students sat with the committee during Monday’s workshop meeting and Tuesday’s official meeting as well.
