Corzine Nominates Cranford Lawyer for Judgeship

Walsh nominated in waning days of the term.

Gov. Jon Corzine nominated Cranford lawyer Thomas Walsh for a state Superior Court judgeship on Thursday. The nomination comes in the waning days of Corzine's term and during the State Legislature's lame duck session.

Walsh, an attorney with the Cranford firm of Triarsi, Betancourt, Walsh and Wukovits, is a former assistant county prosecutor according to his biography on the firm's website. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars and has been a  member of his current firm since 1995. Walsh is the law partner of former Councilman Rafael Betancourt.

Walsh's nomination will now proceed to the Senate Judiciary Committee for review. If approved by the judiciary committee, the full Senate will likely vote on the nomination in one of the last sessions before the term expires. It is tradition for the Senate to consider a large amount of gubernatorial nominations in the last weeks of the two year session.
