Cranford Township Committee To Conduct Special Meeting Tonight

Officials will meet in closed session before voting on two agenda items.

The Township Committee will meet tonight to continue its dicsussion on a legal issue involving the municipality and Cranford Development Associates - an LLC of the S. Hekemian Group, developer of the property.

Members of the governing body will begin the 7:30 p.m. meeting in closed session, acording to a public notice issues by the township clerk's office. The discussion will include "contractual matters related to the restoration of the lower level of the municipal building, a legal matter in connection with litigation entitled, "CDA v. Township of Cranford” and a personnel matter, according to the clerk's notice.

The commissioners will return to open session to vote on two resolutions. The first will authorize the award of a contract for repairs, renovations and alterations to the municipal building. The second will involve the award of a contract for a position known as a "clerk of the works for municipal building reconstruction."

The clerk of the works will monitor the renovations and repairs to the existing municipal building and will be under contract with the township from July 18 to Dec. 31.
