Cranford Voters Favor Cory Booker in Primary Special Election, Unofficial Votes Show

10 percent of those registered voted in Tuesday's special election.


Voters in Cranford favored Cory Booker (D) to fill the empty senate left by the late Senator Frank Lautenberg, according to unofficial results.

Booker received 485 votes, while Steve Lonegan (R) was a close second with 415. However, the unofficial results do not include mail-in ballots.

Overall in New Jersey, Booker and Lonegan will be the choices for voters in the special election on Oct. 16.

Unofficial in-person voting results include:

  • Frank Pallone (D) – 259
  • Rush Holt (D) – 226
  • Alieta Eck (R)-97
  • Shelia Oliver(D) - 16
Of the 15,040 Cranford voters registered for the special election, only 1,500 visited the polls on Tuesday.
