Committee Discusses Sewer Repair and Tabling of Historic Preservation Ordinance

The committee went into closed session to discuss a contract with the Westfield Reg. Health Dept., and for labor negotiations with the Teamsters.

At tonight's Cranford Township Committee workshop meeting, the committee discussed several items including a bid to repair a township sewage line, tree removal from hurricane Sandy, an ordinance to amend the historic preservation municipal code, and an update on Cranford Municipal Building repairs.

Assistant Township engineer Sandra Caceras-Cardenas discussed resolutions 2012-363 to 2012-365, which pertain to sewer line repairs, which could total close to about $800,00. The committee discussed if there was enough time to send out another bid to save $100,000 on the project. The committee agreed to award the contract for the repair of the sewer lines.

Maureen Strazdon of the Cranford Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) convinced the committee to table the final reading and public hearing on ordinance 2012-29, which seeks to amend to procedure for how buildings a districts are designated as historic sites.
