Five Things You Need to Know for Aug. 17, 2011

What's going on today...

1. An August Blood Drive, hosted by Kelli Bruno and New Jersey Blood Services will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Ave. Potential donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. Donors must bring idetification with them and should remember to eat and drink prior to giving blood.

2. The Court Decision Transcript and a link to a opposing the development are now availabe on the township's website.

3. The Cranford Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Room 108 of the Municipal Building, 8 Springfield Ave. Formal action may be taken.

4. The is planning to begin the re-implementation of the Nixle Alert System. The Nixle Alert System allows the police department to send important community information directly to residents using technology such as email and texting. The Nixle Service also allows police to create and publish messages to be delivered to subscribed residents instantly via cellular phone text message and/or e-mail. Notifications can also be accessed online at Nixle’s web site.
