Gov. Christie Will Conduct Town Hall Meeting In Union County Today

The governor will continue his town hall meeting schedule in Union this afternoon.

From taxes to toll hikes and issues with funding in the wake of Hurricane Irene, Gov. Chris Christie will visit Union County this afternoon to participate in a town hall meeting.

According to the governor's press office, Christie does not have a specific set of topics that will be addressed. Instead, the forum, which is open to the public, will give Union County residents an opportunity to raise topics that they feel are important. The outspoken Republican governor has already visited several municipalities throughout the state on his town hall meeting tour. He has been met with protesters as well as supporters.

Today's visit will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Union County, 1050 Jeanette Ave., in Union. The northern Union County township is home to Democratic Assemblyman Joseph Cryan, the current majority leader and one of the party's most influential legislators.

As with previous town hall meetings, Christie is expected to begin the forum with a speech outlining some of his latest policies and plans. , for example, he outlined a "reform agenda" that focused on the steps he felt were necessary to repair an underfunded pension system, troubled education results and taxpayers' property tax burden.
