Town's Legal Expert Finds Attorney Not in Conflict

A law professor working for the municipality found no conflict of interest in the case of a former Cranford Township attorney now in private practice who continues to represent the township, said a published report.

Phil Morin, now with Phillipsburg law firm Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader, represented the township in two cases involving affordable housing, according to the Cranford Chronicle. He now represents the town in a legal dispute over a proposed development on Birchwood Avenue.

The opinion of Seton Hall Law School Professor Michael Ambrosio was announced by Morin's firm.

The “law firm and former Township Attorney Phil Morin did not have a conflict of interest in its representation of Cranford with respect to the Lehigh Acquisition site plan hearings relating to the 555 South Avenue property or the Birchwood Avenue/Cranford Development Associates affordable housing litigation. ...
