Volunteers Will Head Out Tomorrow To Give Info To Cranford's Flood Victims

As residents continue the post-Irene cleanup, the Community Center will continue to serve as a shelter.

Residents looking for ways to volunteer and help out flood victims in the wake of Huricane Irene can start tomorrowat 9 a.m.

According to Mayor Dan Aschenbach, about 100 volunteers will be on hand to help distribute information packets to flood victims throughout the township. The volunteers will meet at the Cranford Recreation Center, 220 Walnut Ave., at 9 a.m.

Residents in the flood zone have been working to remove debris from their property and clean the dirt and mud left behind in their homes when Irene stormed through Cranford bringing high winds and several inches of rain. In order to continue the cleanup, many residents are in search of household bleach and heavy-duty garbage bags.
