2011-12 Cranford Boys & Girls Track and Field Set to Begin Season

The Cranford track team opens their season this weekend with two invitational tournaments.

The 2011-12 version of the Cranford boys & girls varsity track team boasts over 80 athletes made up of plenty of returning veterans mixed with plenty of new talented faces. This year's senior class is very strong and diverse in their talents and that should bode well for the squad. The rest of the returning athletes make up what should be one of the county's finest groups.

Some notable returning peformers for the girls team include seniors Rebecca Shimonov (hurdles, sprints), Megan Byrnes (distance), Kristen VanBenschoten (shot put), Kate Evans (sprints), Megan Schetelich (everything), Gillian Burke (sprints, jumps), juniors Bryanna Grant (hurdles, jumps) and Regine Hunter (jumps, sprints).

The 2011-12 Cougars have the potential to develop into a team that covers and scores in all the events so that we can be balanced to compete at a championship level.
