Cranford Teens Convinced They 'Can' Break Guinness World Record

More than 20,000 cans of vegetables donated by ShopRite were delivered to the Community Center Thursday.

With the help of ShopRite, members of the Cranford Teen Advisory Board moved closer to their goal of breaking a world record for building the largest canned food pyramid.

Dozens of local students gathered at the Cranford Community Center Thursday afternoon to help unload a tractor-trailer carrying 20,000 cans of vegetables that were donated by ShopRite to help the Teen Advisory Board achieve it's goal of breaking a Guinness World Record. The students worked together to unload pallets of cans from a truck into a room at the community center, where they will be stored until early next month.

On May 4, beginning at 9 a.m., the group will gather at the community center to begin constructing the can pyramid using 25,000 cans of vegetables. The food will then be donated to local charities such as Cranford Family Care, where it will benefit the needy as well as victims of Superstorm Sandy.
