March 21, 2011: Senior Light Up 'Night of Stars'

Cranford seniors dolled up and took the stage at the high school for “Night of the Stars.”  The event is a fundraiser for senior prom and Project Graduation, a drug- and alcohol-free graduation party. The Senior Class of 2011 modeled prom dresses, tuxedos, hair styles and makeup. Students also performed in between modeling acts, showing off their Irish dancing, singing, break dancing and other talents.

After four years of diligence, one student completed his time at Cranford High School with an unmatched accomplishment. CHS Class of 2011 graduate Bryan Santos took top honors. The senior finished his illustrious high school career as the class valedictorian, an achievement that was both unexpected and well-deserved.

June 14, 2011: Senior Kimberly LaFronz Proves Self-discipline Pays Off

Graduating seniors are no strangers to hard work and perseverance, which can be said of Cranford High School Salutatorian, Kimberly La Fronz. La Fronz graduated with the honor of highest GPA for a female student in the Class of 2011.

June 22, 2011: Seniors Live It Up For One More Night at Project Grad

The graduates of Cranford High School celebrated one last hurrah as a class at the annual Project Graduation. Following their commencement ceremony, students drove cars tricked out in blue and gold paint, streamers and balloons to the Gran Centurion in Clark for one final night of fun. 

Aug. 31, 2011: Flooding Results In Delayed School Opening for Cranford

As Hurricane Irene barreled through Cranford, the storm not only flooded homes and businesses, but local schools as well. The remnants of the storm forced school officials to delay the beginning of the school year by two days. In a letter to Cranford parents today, Superintendent of Schools Gayle Carrick explained the damage to the facilities and announced that the first day of school for students would be Sept. 12.

Oct. 5, 2011: Unconventional Teacher Honored

Kindergarten at the Bradford School in Montclair is about what the students want, not what they need. Under the leadership of teacher Ellen Cahill, her students have the opportunity to learn about philosophy, civics, animals and even the Wild West. Through her alternative teaching methods and ability to use humanities to engage her students, Cahill was named the 2011 Teacher of the Year by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
