Lecture/PowerPoint Presentation: Cranford's Civil War Heritage

Seventy Cranford residents played important roles during the momentous events of the Civil War. Most served with the Union forces, some few supported the cause of the Confederacy. All contributed in some way to Cranford's development. Steven Glazer has been researching these connections between Cranford and the Civil War for almost a decade. He will provide a PowerPoint presentation portraying many of these local veterans, the homes in which they lived, and the mark they left on Cranford. Mr. Glazer is a member of New Jersey's Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee, and chairs the Civil War Anniversary Committee of the Cranford Historical Society. He recently published a book regarding his research entitled Discover Your Community's Civil War Heritage. He also contributed to two other works about New Jersey and the Civil War, New Jersey Goes to War and New Jersey's Civil War Odyssey. The three books will be available for sale. The program is co-sponsored by the Cranford Public Library and the Cranford Historical Society. Admission is free and all are welcome.
