Solar Viewing at the Trailside Nature and Science Center

Beginning at 1 pm in the Trailside auditorium, a member of Amateur Astronomers, Inc. will explain what features of the Sun you can expect to see.  After the short talk, members of AAI will provide safe views of solar prominences, sunspots, and filaments through AAI’s portable solar telescope near the flagpole outside the Nature Center.

Sunspots on the solar disk may also be visible in a specially constructed projection box.  The talk and the solar viewing are free.  No registration is required, and there is plenty of free parking.  If it is cloudy, a cancellation notice will be displayed on the Home page of the AAI website (www.asterism.org) by noon Saturday.  The outdoor portion of this event will be repeated on every clear Saturday until October.

Safe solar viewing is suitable for "kids" of all ages.  That includes you, grandma! All are welcome.

The Trailside Nature and Science Center is located in the Watchung Reservation at 452 New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ 07092. Their phone is 908-789-3670.

If you have questions about this event or about Amateur Astronomers, Inc., please send a message to info@asterism.org.  All are welcome.
