Union County College is holding educational and fun summer programs offered for youth ages 11 – 17 at Union County College’s Cranford campus.  Most classes run one or two weeks long and a range of different classes are offered.  For parents who want their children to maintain an academic edge over the summer, consider classes like “Middle School Math Review,” “Writing Rollercoaster,” “Expository Writing,” “Reading Enhancement,” “Summer Book Club,” or “Chess Club.”  An SAT prep class will also be offered for both verbal and math sections and this test prep course will teach important test-taking strategies.

For students who want to learn something new, the college offers classes including “Build Your Own Web Page,” “The Artist Within,” “Design Your Own Comic Book,” “Guitar,” or “Mock Trial Workshop.”  The college also partners with Black Rocket Productions to offer innovative technology-oriented classes including “Make Your First App,” “Make Your First Video Game,” “LEGO Films and Stop Action,” or “X-Games: The Ultimate Video Game Experience.”

Additional classes not listed here are also offered and the full course listing can be found online in the summer Continuing Education brochure: www.ucc.edu/go/youth-programs.

All classes are affordable and are taught by highly qualified instructors, most of whom are NJ-certified school teachers. Classes run all summer long starting the week of June 25, 2012.  Classes for students ages 11-13 run in the mornings from 9 a.m. – 12 noon and classes for students ages 14+ run in the afternoon from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  To sign up, call (908) 709-7600 or visit the Continuing Education offices in Cranford or Elizabeth.
