Who's Behind Cranford High's 'Sweet Charity'

Lynn Berry, Michelle Massa and Anthony Rafaniello helped put on this year's Cranford High School Musical.

We know it's about the talented students, but who are some of the adults who help produce Cranford High School's production of "Sweet Charity"?

For one, there's Lynn Berry, the Supervisor of Performing Arts for Cranford Public Schools. "We are really a team of three who put these shows together at CHS," says Berry. Choreography work is handled by Berry's partner in theatrical crime, Michelle Massa.

Massa and Berry have been helping stage productions in Cranford since 1989, she says. The two "wear many hats", from producer to set designer to costumer. With the help of Anthony Rafaniello, the musical director, Cranford students are sure to put on a show-stopper.

"Anthony has been a key element to our continued success with our productions," says Berry. Rafaniello started helping out Cranford musical productions in 2005 with the Rising Star award-wining production of "Jekyll and Hyde".

It's the support of the behind-the-scenes adults that help the high school productions take shape.

"We want our students to have as close to a professional theater experience
as is possible," Berry says. And it's not without maximum effort. "We push them hard, expect hard work and don't ever give up trying to make each show our best effort."

Cranford High School presents Sweet Charity on March 1 and 2 at 8:00  PM and March 3 at 2:00 PM.
