Cranford Falls to Summit in State Playoffs

Undefeated Summit beats Cranford to advance to state final.

By Liz Alterman

The Summit Hilltoppers beat the Cranford Cougars for the second time this season, winning 35-14 in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 semifinal round Saturday at Tatlock Park in Summit.

In a rare opportunity, the Cranford Cougars were matched up against Summit for Saturday's game in the second round of the state football playoffs. The Cougars defeated Palisades Park, 45-7 last week to move them onto the next round.

The Hilltoppers, defending champions, head to the State finals in pursuit of their eighth state playoff title, and will face Parsippany Hills High School at either MetLife Stadium or Kean University.
