The Psycho 78s Renegade Roller Derby, the first and only No-Holds-Barred roller derby team in New Jersey, will host a charity roller derby game tonight, July 14, 2012 at 5 p.m. The 78s are NJ's first no-rules team, and are the first co-ed no-rules travel team in modern derby, meaning they are the only team allowing for fighting, showboating, etc., and also allow men and women to skate together.
The team traditionally holds their major charity games at the church and have raised several thousand dollars thus far for charitable causes, such as disaster relief and flood relief funding. Psycho 78s practice out of Wharton, and represent New Jersey in Renegade-Rules (no-penalties) roller derby. The 78s have athletes from various areas of NJ, and compete across the US.
The event will take place at the Parsippany Presbyterian Church, located at 1675 Rt. 46, Parsippany, with doors opening at 5pm, whistle at 5:30pm. This event will be outdoors, rain or shine. Admission is $10 per person, and all proceeds will be donated to secular, Disaster Relief efforts. Psycho 78s hope to showcase the most exciting form of the sport possible while simultaneously raising funds and awareness for charity.
