Celebrate the End of Summer With a Treasure Hunt & Sweets Galore

Cranford Municipal Alliance to host summer finale event Tuesday.

Friends and family can celebrate the end of summer in Downtown Cranford on Tuesday with the Treasure Hunt & Sweets Galore event sponsored by the Cranford Municipal Alliance.

The event will serve as a “summer finale” for Cranford families before the kids head back to school. It will feature a scavenger hunt and sweet treats from Downtown Cranford businesses. The event is a fundraiser for the preservation of the Roosevelt School fireplace, which is co-sponsored by the Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield and the Cranford Historic Preservation Advisory Board.

“We chose the date to coincide with the Family Dinner Night project sponsored by the Cranford Municipal Alliance and thought it would be a terrific end-of-summer event,” said Maureen Strazdon of CHPAB.

The CHPAB is hoping to preserve the historic fireplace that was removed from Roosevelt/Solomon Schechter Day School on Orange Avenue in 2010 prior to its demolition. All of the proceeds from the Treasure Hunt & Sweets Galore event will go towards the installation of the fireplace in the Cranford Community Center.

Tickets for the event are available in advance at www.jlepnj.org or at Cheese…Please! Cost is  $10 for adults (age 11 and over) and $5 for children (3 to 10), Those who pre-register receive five free raffle tickets and a special doggie treat.  Day of tickets will be available at the Jumble Store. Rain date is Sept. 10.
