Cranford's 34th Annual Firecracker 4 Draws Nearly 1,300 Runners

The run has become a successful event in Cranford each Fourth of July.


Despite the heat, runners took their mark at 9 a.m. on the Fourth of July to race in the 34th Annual Firecracker 4 to benefit the Cranford Jaycees scholarship fund.

Top finishers included: Justin Scheid with a time of 21:02 Chris Bourke at 21:17, Alexander Mitchell at 21:35 Mike Anis at 21:41 and Mark Del Monaco at 22:07.
The top women's finisher was Jessica Bar for the third year in a row with a time of  26.19.

Vice President of the Cranford Jaycees, Patrick Giblin, said the event was another success, 34 years and counting.

The Firecracker 4 is a successful event in Cranford thanks to the Cranford Jaycees and the close-knit community of Cranford, Race Director Jerry Iacovano said.

He added, “the Jaycees, who come out year after year and give their time and experience to make the race better and better.”
