Freeholder Resigns to Run County Improvement Authority

Daniel Sullivan had served as Union County's longest-tenured freeholder.

Union County Freeholder Daniel Sullivan has resigned from his seat on the board beginning Monday to head up the county improvement authority, according to NJ.com.

Sullivan, who has served as a freeholder since 1995, will become the interim executive director of the authority. He said that he had been advised by attorneys that he could not remain a freeholder while overseeing the improvement authority, according to the article.

His freeholder term was set to expire in December and he was not seeking reelection. The Union County Committee will submit a list of possible candidates to fill Sullivan's seat to the freeholder board.
