Cranford Girl Scouts Earn Highest Honor

Four of the scouts earned the Silver Award for their litter awareness campaign.

Four members of Cranford Girl Scout Troop 40605 have been working to earn the highest possible girl scout award: the silver award for the past 10 months.

Melanie Smith, Morgana Haub, Elizabeth Garcia and Meg Cui of Cranford dedicated over 50 hours of service to complete their litter awareness campaign for the township called, "Your Town, Your Choice."

The girls filmed a public service announcement, which will be broadcast on TV-35, as well as a display for litter awareness. Additionally, the girls created a 'trash to treasure' art exhibit for the Cranford Public Library.

The display is open to visitors throughout the month of June. There will also be informational flyers as well as goodies to take home.

Three of the girls attend Hillside Avenue School and one of them is home-schooled.
