'Seussical The Musical' Brings 'Funny Fun Fun' This Weekend

Farmer's markets in Westfield and Scotch Plains and a free CrossFit workout are also on tap.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out these events happening in and around Clark, Cranford, Fanwood, Garwood, Scotch Plains and Westfield.

It is never too early to get fit! Get yourself up bright and early Saturday to join the Elizabeth Reebok team and CrossFit Gym Garwood for their monthly workout. We've done CrossFit as part of our ongoing weight-loss effort—it will kick your keister and change your life. Try the high-energy, no-mercy regimen at a Free Reebok CrossFit Workout, 8 a.m. Saturday at the Reebok Outlet Store, 651 Kapkowski Road in Elizabeth. As a bonus, if you can survive the tough training, receive 40 percent off store merchandise.

Fresh, locally grown produce, baked goods and more are what you'll find at the Scotch Plains Business and Professional Association's weekly Farmer's Market. The event is held each Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. through November. The market features offerings from vendors including Asprocolas Acres, Florence Ravioli, Bake You Crazy and Krakus Polish Deli. Get there early: You'll find the Farmer's Market on Park Avenue. For more info, write to FarmersMarket@VisitScotchPlains.com.

Locavore action is coming to Westfield as well: The Westfield Farmer's Market takes place at the South Avenue Train Station from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce runs the market as an extension of its "buy local" philosophy. Check out the numerous vendors and enjoy items including fresh lemonades, coffees and vegan chocolate. Get more information from the chamber at 908-233-3021.

The youth version of the Broadway hit "Suessical The Musical" Presented by The Theater Project Jr. comes to Cranford this weekend for three performances at Jardine Academy. The show, which features an all-kid cast, is all about celebrating childhood and imagination and having what Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat would call "funny fun fun." Tickets for the event are $12; kids under five are admitted for free. Buy tickets online. Performances take place Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the school, 61 Myrtle St. in Cranford.
