Schools Closings:

• While the authorities will look to have the schools operational full time on all the scheduled days, circumstances, including, storms, energy problems, death of a prominent person, state directives, etc., may force closure, delayed openings and early dismissals of schools.

Delayed school openings

• If a decision is taken to delay the opening of schools, all schools in the district will open at 9:50 a.m.

Early Dismissal

• Unanticipated storms may force the school authorities to dismiss school earlier.

• In such scenarios, the school staff will get in touch with a responsible member of the household, transportation services and the police.

• Sometimes, schools may be closed early due to a planned staff activity in which case, the school will inform the students, parents, transportation services and police in advance.

  • Kindergarten, Snappy half-day (both, PM sessions) and Snappy full-day at Hillside Avenue, Brookside Place and Walnut Avenue: 12:30 p.m.

  • Snappy half-day (AM session) at Hillside Avenue, Brookside Place and Walnut Avenue: 10:15 a.m.

  • Kindergarten and Snappy half-day (both, PM sessions) at Bloomingdale Avenue: 10:45 a.m.

  • Kindergarten, Snappy half-day (both, PM sessions) and grades 1-2 at Bloomingdale Avenue: 12:15 p.m.

  • Hillside Avenue and Orange Avenue (both, grades 1-8), Brookside Place, Walnut Avenue and Livingston Avenue (all, grades 1-5): 12:30 p.m.

  • Cranford High School (grades 9-12) and Lincoln: 12:43 p.m.
