Personal Trainer Certification Program Now Offered Through UCC

Union County College is offering a summer personal trainer certification program.

Turn Your Love of Fitness Into a Career as a Personal Trainer Start a new career as a certified personal trainer through a certificate program offered this summer at Union County College. The job outlook for personal trainers is strong and several new gyms and fitness facilities have recently opened in New Jersey, creating new job opportunities. The Personal Trainer National Certification program at Union County College is offered together with the World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.) and the course is taught over a five-week period. Cranford HS Named One of “America’s Best High Schools” by Newsweek

The school was ranked #206 out of 2,000 high schools in the country.

Cranford High School was ranked as the #206 best high school in the country, according to Newsweek’s “America’s Best High Schools” rankings released on Monday. CHS gained this ranking due to several criteria including a 99% graduation rate, 98% of college-bound students and a 1713 average SAT score. The ranking also stated that the average ACT score was a 23.9, average amount of AP/IB tests taken per student being 0.7 and the average AP score being a 3.6. Cranford’s overall Newsweek score came out to a 3.41 out of 5. Union County College Offers New Tuition Rate for Full-Time Students

The full-time rate for a student who lives in Union County will be $2,040 per semester.

Union County College Continues to Support Student Success by Offering a New Tuition Rate Encouraging Students to Earn their Degree in Two Years To promote student success and to support the College’s mission of providing an affordable education, Union County College has revised its full-time tuition structure. Beginning fall 2013, tuition for full-time students will be a flat rate for each semester. This full-time rate includes tuition and general fees for students taking as few as 12 credits to a maximum of 18 credits. Local Students Participate in St. Peter's Prep 'Memory Project'

Young artists create portraits for disadvantaged children in Guyana.

A group of Saint Peter's Prep Drawing and Composition II Art students have taken part in The Memory Project, which unites children througout the world with art students in the U.S. and several other countries. Through this initiative, young artists create portraits for children who have been orphaned, disadvantaged, or neglected. The portraits, drawn from photographs provided through The Memory Project, are given to children who have very few personal posessions. St. Michael’s Student Wins 3rd Place in "My County" Poster Contest

Amanda Beckley took home third place in the contest.

Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich, Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi and Union County Surrogate James LaCorte congratulated the winners of the 2013 “My County” poster contest sponsored by the Union County Constitutional Officers. The contest is open only to fourth-graders in the county. Amanda Beckley from St. Michael's Elementary School in Cranford took home third place in the contest.

Concert Season Begins with CHS Spring Choral Performance

Singing groups from Cranford High School will perform in the first concert on the spring season on April 25.

The Cranford High School Performing Arts Department begins its Spring Concert Season with the Spring Choral Concert on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium. Enjoy selections from the Women’s and Men’s Choruses, the Noteworthy Gentlemen, the Women’s Ensemble, the Madrigal Choir, and the Concert Choir. The concert is free and open to the public. The Concert Choir and Madrigal Choir recently returned from a tour of Southern California where the student performed onboard the USS Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego, and took part in vocal workshops at Disneyland and with professors from San Diego State University and Pepperdine University.
