David Robinson, Commissioner of Public Safety, Former Mayor

David Robinson serves as commissioner of public safety. He is the liasion between the police, fire, recreation and parks departments and Cranford residents. Last year he served as Cranford's mayor. He is a Republican. Robinson can be reached at 497-9395 or can be e-mailed at D-Robinson@cranfordnj.org. His term expires in 2012. Robinson got his law degree from Boston College Law School. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Amy, have four children.

Mark Smith, Mayor

Mark Smith has lived in Cranford for 15 years. He serves as Cranford's mayor as of January 2010. In 2009, Smith served as deputy mayor and commissioner of public works. He is a member of the Planning Board and represents it on the Cranford Environmental Commission. Smith has a Ph.D. in history from the University of St. Andrews, an M.S. in information management from Stevens Institute of Technology and an arts degree from the College of William and Mary. Cranford resident Bette Jane Kowalski serves on the Board of Chosen Freeholders. Kowalski was first elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders in September 2004 and was re-elected in 2007.
