Cranford Man Arrested for Burglary, Assault

James Mattis, 22, was arrested after burglarizing a Holly Street resident's vehicle.

The following information was provided by Cranford Police. A local man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses by police following a 9-1-1 call reporting a burglary to a parked motor vehicle and an assault on the vehicle owner. At approximately 01:05am on 5/18/2013, Cranford Police were contacted by a Holly Street resident who witnessed his vehicle being ransacked by a white male suspect in his 20s.  The vehicle owner had confronted the suspect and engaged in a scuffle with him outside the car prior to calling police.  The suspect fled the scene on foot after breaking away from the victim.  The victim provided a description and turned over to police a cellular telephone dropped at the scene by the suspect.  Moments later …

Cranford Man Arrested, Charged With Sharing Child Pornography

Andrew Johnson, 29, of Cranford was arrested on May 7 for distributing images of child sexual abuse on an Internet sharing site.

Andrew Johnson, 29, was arrested on the morning of May 7 for distributing images of child pornography on his computer in his Cranford home after an undercover investigation, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman. Johnson appeared in court on the afternoon of May 7 and was released on 100,000 bail, he was charged by complaint with one count of distributing images of child sexual abuse over the Internet, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. On three different occasions in July and December 2012 and April 2013 an undercover agent discovered Johnson distributing the images on an internet sharing site and traced the IP address of the user on the website back to Johnson’s Cranford residence. The following information was provided by the Cranford Police Department.  April 16, 2013: At 9:56 a.m. Ptl. Brian Lopez arrested Assamad Nance, 32, of Newark for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana (less than 50g) and Possession of Paraphernalia. According to police, a 2003 maroon Oldsmobile was stopped for a passenger seatbelt violation at Myrtle St/Rod Smith Pl. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Lopez located suspected cocaine and marijuana on Nance.  Nance was arrested, processed and released pending a first appearance in Superior Court. April 17, 2013: At 11:27 a.m. Ptl. FBI Fugitive From Union County Turns Himself In

Luqman Abdullah rose to notoriety when he participated in the shooting of a rival drug dealer in the trunk of his car, said Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Police Nab 2 Men in Package Thefts

Hillside men were arrested yesterday for taking a package from the front porch of a on Keith Jefferies Ave. residence. Linked to other possible mail thefts.

We all know "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," but what Cranford police are trying to figure out is who else may have had packages stolen from their doorsteps recently. Yesterday, two Hillside men were arrested after cops said they were seen taking a parcel from a home on Keith Jeffries Avenue in the afternoon. Police found multiple opened packages in a car operated by the men and believe other homes in the area were also hit based what they found in the vehicle, police said in a statement.  A postal worker told police he witnessed the theft around 3:55p.m. on Tuesday, and described seeing the suspects drive off in a Pontiac Grand Prix after one of the men grabbed a package from the porch on Keith Jefferies Avenue. Clark PD: Cranford Teen Arrested on Theft Charge

The following arrest information was provided by the Clark Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Clark police activity, Nov. 26 - Dec. 10, 2012: Theft Nov. 28, 3:22 pm. – At Headquarters, police arrested Colleen Smith, age 19, single, a cashier of 102 Retford Avenue in Cranford for theft. Smith was subsequently released on her own recognizance pending a court date. Det. Kevin Shackleton was the arresting officer.   The information in this police blotter is provided by the Clark Police Department. It may not include all police activity. Burglary Investigation Results in Charges Against Three men

Suspects face burglary and narcotics charges as a result of an undercover investigation by Cranford Detectives.

A two-month-long burglary investigation by the Cranford Police Department has resulted in burglary and narcotics charges being filed against three men. In December 2011, Cranford Police Department detectives identified a link between local burglaries and a suspected heroin distribution ring operating in Cranford Township. Cranford detectives identified several suspects and initiated a detailed investigation. Following an undercover surveillance operation in the area of several commercial burglaries on Jan. 17, 2012, detectives stopped and arrested James Mattis, 21, of Cranford.
