BOE Reorganization Meeting Rescheduled for Jan. 14

The planned Jan. 3 meeting was not held due to lack of a quorum.

The public swearing-in of recently elected board members which includes Mary Venditti, Camille Widdows, Catherine Morgese, and Jill Brown will now take place on Monday Jan. 14, at 8p.m. at the Lincoln School. The Cranford Board of Education's regular meeting will take place Jan. 28 at 7p.m. According to a school board representative, the Cranford Board of Education meeting was "canceled due to lack of quorum," meaning there were not enough members who could make the meeting to vote.

Members of the Cranford Fire Department will heat things up Monday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pines Manor in Edison during the Ultimate Fire Department Cook-off. The second annual event will take place during the Cooked and Uncorked Food and Wine Festival benefiting New Jersey State Firefighter’s Mutual Benevolent Association and Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation. Superior Court Judge Lisa Chrystal has denied the township's motion for reconsideration in the Birchwood case. Despite the evidence provided by the township regarding concerns with flodding on the property, the judge did not reverse her previous decision allowing 360 residential units to be built on the flood-proned land.
