Authorities have deemed the threat a hoax.
In what has become somewhat of a regular occurance, Union County College's Cranford campus was visited by law enforcement personnel again this afternoon following a threat that was received by the school. "Union County College’s Public Safety issued an 'all clear' at 3:30 p.m. after sweeping the Cranford campus in response to this nebulous threat," said Stephen D. Nacco, Vice President & Executive Assistant to the President. Nacco said the college received a "vague phone threat" at approximately 2 p.m. today. The Cranford campus has been evacuated for the third time this month. Classes resumed at 4:30 p.m.
The FBI, Cranford and Union County Police are investigating a "non-specific threat" received by Union County college this afternoon. According to Stephen D. Nacco, vice president and executive assistant to the president of Union County College, "in response to a non-specific threat to the college, received at 2:45 p.m., polce are on the Cranford campus investigating." The Cranford campus of UCC was re-opened at about 3:20 p.m. after police investigated the college.
For the second time this month, Union County College's Cranford campus has been the victim of a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax. According to Detective Lt. James Wozniak of the Craford Police Department, a bomb threat was called into the college. The call was received at approximately 3 p.m. Local police immediately responded to the Springfield Avenue campus and evacuated the buildings. "We called in the Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit and the Bomb Squad to sweep the buildings," Wozniak said. Union County Bomb Squad and K-9 Unites swept all three UCC campuses in the wake of a bomb threat that was received Monday afternoon.
All three campuses of Union County College, including the Cranford location on Springfield Avenue, were evacuated Monday afternoon following what proved a bomb threat was a hoax, according to Union County Police. Police responded to Union County College following reports of a bomb threat that was received at about 3:15 p.m. Monday. Just after 4 p.m., fire alarms began to sound throughout the camus as students, staff and faculty were evacuated from all of the buildings on the campus. Since the threats seem to come in around the same time/day every week, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who is behind it. You can probably narrow it down to less than 20 people if the school looks into which professor has rescheduled the same exam every week for the last month...   more ›
