The DECA Marketing club of Cranford High School is collecting school supplies to donate to the Middletown and Port Monmouth School District which like many towns took a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy. There will be a donation box located in the rotunda, which will remain there through Nov. 16. If you or someone you know can donate some school supplies it would be greatly appreciated. If you would like more information, contact the DECA advisors at the high school, Richard Goldstein or Donna Cathcart The following is a list of needed supplies:

More students than ever have advanced to the finals in the New Jersey DECA Leadership Conference.

Fifty-five DECA students at Cranford High School scored in the top of their business events, making them not only eligible to compete in the New Jersey DECA Leadership Conference in Cherry Hill on Feb. 26-28 but also the most to ever advance in the history of Cranford High School. The DECA Program is aimed at helping students prepare for business careers. The program, which boasts 118 members, builds self-esteem, helps with leadership skills, and practices community service. First place winners are: Jacqueline Chiari for Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Rachel White for Principles of Business Marketing and Gabrielle DaSilva for Automotive Service Marketing. Cranford students and Garwood Lanes hosted a 'bowlathon' to help support the local squad's efforts to restore it's flood-damaged building.

Beyond the usual crash of the pins at Garwood Lanes on Feb. 2 was a community united behind a cause, raising money to help restore the First Aid Squad in Cranford New Jersey that was damaged by Hurricane Irene. The Cranford High School bowling team and DECA Club’s Bowlathon was in full swing. The bowling team and the DECA Club - Distributive Edu-cators Club of America - enhances the co-curricular education of the 118 students enrolled through the fields of marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. Bowling coach and DECA Advisors Richard Goldstein and Donna Cathcart decided to introduce these aspiring business students to another aspect of entrepreneurship — giving back to the community.
