Cranford Arrest Report: Vehicle Stops Lead to Cocaine, Marijuana Charges

The following information is provided by the Cranford Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Following traffic stops, Cranford Police have made several arrests so far this month on drug charges including possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. On Jan. 8, David Benoit of East Orange was arrested after police allegedly found cocaine in the unregistered, tan Chevy he was driving. Benoit, 31, was in the vehicle at Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street around 1a.m. when Patrolman Spencer Durkin noticed the car had a blown tire and proceeded to investigate. The cocaine was allegedly found in the vehicle.  Benoit was processed and released with a date to appear in Superior Court.
