A County public works crew was in Cranford this week taking care of a downed tree near the municipal building.
Workers from the Union County Public Works shade tree division were out clearing up remnants from Superstorm Sandy on Wednesday afternoon. About half a dozen workers were hauling away tree trunks that were sitting on county land near the grounds of the Cranford Historical Society. A crew member chainsawed his way through a trunk while others helped maneuver other large pieces onto a truck. The crew was making the rounds through Union County this week, just a couple of months since the storm wrecked havoc on swaths of North Jersey. "It's been non-stop [storm cleanup] ever since," one worker said about the efforts. Workers were coming from Plainfield, with another stop in Kenilworth and final drop off in Springfield.

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick will host a Hurricane Sandy Recovery Information Session for the public on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7p.m. in the Roy Smith Theater on the Cranford campus of Union County College.
