Recovery Update: Officials To Decide By 7 p.m. If Schools Will Open Tomorrow

The superintendent of schools said the district is monitoring the recent storm to determine if schools will be open on Thursday, Nov. 8.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gayle Carrick issued a statement this afternoon update the public on the district's efforts to restore power in the schools. "Power was restored this morning to another Cranford School however a transformer has recently blown resulting in the loss of power and heat to a school that was previously operational," Carrick said. Maintenance crews are still working to install generators to power some of the buildings that lost electricity during super storm Sandy last week. "We are in the process of installing two large emergency generators at two Cranford schools which we anticipate will be completed by midnight," Carrick said.
