I think the proper term for this is that the fatality was a person, not a trespasser. The use of the proper term for who died is both respectfull to the person and refelctive of the fact that he was , I presume , not someone convicted of tresspassing for this incident as our justice sytem is not that fast. Generally the press is cautious not to call a suspect for murder or robbery a murderer or robber until they are convicted. Why should this poor person who died be denied that respect. And the fact the NJ Transit may have used that term is not an excuse. Patch bears responsibilty for what it publishes.

The person was clearly trespassing on property owned by the NJ transit right of way. The person committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train and sliced into about 15 pieces. The correct term is the idiot trespasser who delayed commuters from getting to work was fatally killed.
