Cranford Clergy Council Now Accepting Martin Luther King Jr. Applications

The organization is accepting applications for the Civil and Human rights award until Dec. 5.


The Interfaith Human Relations Committee of Cranford Clergy Council has begun to accept applications for their annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Civil and Human Rights.

Both individuals and groups are encourages to  apply until Dec. 5. The recipient of the award will be presented at a Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Service on Jan. 15 at Osceola Presbyterian Church in Clark.

The award is given to someone who has made contributions to the cause of improving the community in such areas as civil and human rights, social justice, social action and/or demonstrated concern for the welfare of others. Applicants should be residents of Cranford who someone with a direct impact to the Cranford community.

Guidelines for the Award:

Individual persons or groups may make nominations for the award.

The recipient must have made a significant contribution to the cause of improving the community in such areas as civil and human rights, social justice, social action and/or demonstrated concern for the welfare of others.

The recipient should be either a resident of or identified with the Township of Cranford, though not necessarily living in Cranford.

The recipient should be identified with (though not necessarily a member of) a Cranford religious community or one affiliated with the Cranford Clergy Council.

The recipient may be a clergy or a lay person.
