Bagel Shop Burglars Captured By Cranford Police

Cranford Police have captured two suspects in connection with a burglary at a local bagel shop.

On Aug. 27,  the responded to at 107 South Ave. East on a report of a burglary that occurred overnight.

Detective Sgt. Christopher Polito processed the scene and conducted the investigation. Through the use of the surveillance video it was determined the burglary occurred on Sunday night, Aug. 26 at approximately 10:50 p.m. Three actors entered the store and stole approximately $700 in cash from the cash registers.

A week-long investigation led to Sgt. Polito identifying the three alleged perpetrators and obtaining arrest warrants for three suspects. Ahmad Elhaj, 23, of Clifton Township was taken into custody by the Clifton Township Police Department on Aug. 31 and charged with burglary and theft, which are third degree crimes. On Sept. 5, Aiman Abdelatif, 23, of Paterson and Thaer Jamhour, 22, of Elmwood Park, were taken into custody with the assistance of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department and charged with burglary and theft. All three men are being held at the Union County Jail in Elizabeth. Elhaj is being held on $15,000 bail; Abdelatif and Jamhour are being held on $20,000 bail. They were scheduled to appear in Union County Superior Court on Sept. 7.
