Report: William Parisio of Cranford Dies In Jail

His death is under investigation by the Union County Prosecutor's Office, NJ.com reports.

The Cranford man who was accused of killing his 22-year old girlfriend in his parents' Greaves Place home in March 2011 was found dead Monday morning in the Union County Jail, according to acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park.

William Parisio, 25, was pronounced dead late Monday morning at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth after being transported there from the jail.

An autopsy revealed no obvious signs of significant trauma to Parisio, with the cause of death pending additional toxicology and biological tests, according to Park.

The Union County Police Department and Prosecutor's Office are investigating circumstances surrounding Parisio’s death.

Parisio had been awaiting trial for murder in the death of Pamela Schmidt of Warren, a Rutgers University senior. Parisio was charged with murder and two weapons offenses. Police allege he struck the victim with a dumbbell before manually strangling her. He was indicted in September 2011. 

At the time, it was believed Parisio had taken bath salts, but toxicology results later proved that untrue
