$5K Taken From Homes on the Cranford Border

Homes forcibly entered.

Two homes on the border of Cranford were burglarized Sunday evening, with over $5,000 taken in total. The homes were just over a block apart.

The burglaries occured in Westfield on Michael Drive and Woodbrook Circle, located just off of Springfield Avenue on the Cranford border.

Police responded to a call from a resident of Michael Drive that a burglary had occurred between 7:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. that evening. The resident reported that an unknown actor or actors had forced open a sliding door in the rear of the house to gain entry. A $300 purse and $150 in cash were reported missing from the residence. The burglar appeared to have exited through the same door.

The same evening, a resident on nearby Woodbrook Circle reported a burglary to their home. Entry to this home was gained by forcibly opening a window. The resident said two laptop computers and currency were stolen from the home. The total taken from the residence was $5,199.

It is not known is the two burglaries were by the same individual.
