Cranford Democrats, GOP File For June Primary Election

Deputy Mayor Ed O'Malley will not seek re-election.

Two Democrats and two republicans have met the April 1 filing deadline to have their names on the ballot for the June Primary Election.

Democratic Incumbent Kevin Campbell will seek re-election to a second term. He will be joined on the uncontested primary ballot by Cranford resident Kelly M. Howard.

Republican candidates Mary O’Connor and Robert D’Ambola will also be seeking the two seats on the Township Committee that will be available when the terms of Campbell and Deputy Mayor Ed O'Malley expire at the end of the year.

Throughout his residency in Cranford, Campbell has served on various municipal committees including the River Cleanup Committee for more than 15 years and the Zoning Board of Adjustment for more than eight years. Campbell and O'Malley both began serving on the governing body following their election in 2010. O'Malley, a Cranford resident for 15 years, has chosen not to seek an additional term on the committee.

O'Connor has served as an active member of the township's Planning Board. She was appointed in 2010 as a Class IV member for a four year term ending Dec. 31, 2013. D'Ambola has also been active in the community and was a member of the Cranford Emergency Management Council.

The ballot position drawing for the June Primary Election will take place at 3 p.m. on April 12. The Primary Election is June 4. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
