Cranford Welcomes Delegation from Japanese Sister-City

Officials from Nakadomari, Japan will visit Cranford on Monday morning.

Officials form Cranford’s sister city across the Pacific Ocean in Nakadomari, Japan will visit the municipal building for ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

Mayor Tom Hannen and members of the township committee will welcome the Japanese into Council Hall Chambers, where Hannen will present a proclamation and plaque to the dignitaries.

This isn’t the first time that Cranford has welcomed its sister city to the township, in previous years they have met with a judo team from Nakadomari and a group of Japanese bankers.

“What this does is it helps expand community relations internationally," Hannen told the Cranford Chronicle about the visit. “We're very proud of Cranford, and another city on the other side of the globe that would like to have Cranford as a sister city speaks very well for our community, I believe.”

The ceremony is open to the public. Check back with Cranford Patch for photos and a follow-up of the visit.
