Dear CHS Junior Students, Parents and the Cranford Community,
A great opportunity awaits you! While you are preparing for your SAT’s and learning all of those vocabulary words, take some time to earn some extra cash for college by signing up for the CHS Academic Bowl sponsored by the Cranford Rotary Club. The CHS Academic Bowl has been designed as a SAT Vocabulary Bee! Put your studying to work for you by accessing the vocabulary words below and study on your own or with your friends to earn….

We are fortunate to have the support of the Cranford Rotary Club who has generously donated $7,000 in prizes for our student winners in the CHS Academic Bowl!
The top prize for 1st and 2nd place will be $800 each that can be applied toward college. A total of fourteen prize awards will be donated to our top performing students in this competition.
Junior students have been informed of the competition through their English class. Any junior interested in participating should sign up with Mrs. Morrissey in room L101 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, February 8, 2013.
Students will compete individually by memorizing vocabulary definitions and successfully communicating their responses to a panel of judges.
Preliminary rounds of competition will be held on 2/19, 2/20 and 2/21 at 3:15 p.m. in the Cranford High School cafeteria. The top performing students will advance to the finals on Tuesday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Cranford High School cafeteria.
This event is free and open to the public. We encourage students, parents and community members to attend this wonderful event, enjoy some refreshments and watch our students excel. Audience members will be eligible to participate in raffles for exciting prizes including scholarships to the CHS SAT Test Preparation Academy (a $399 value). Please come out and enjoy a wonderful time cheering on our students and celebrating their commitment.
The CHS Academic Bowl is aimed at motivating excellence in education through preparation and hard work. Improving vocabulary knowledge and cultivating an environment for our students to further strengthen their command of the English language are central to the goals of the CHS Academic Bowl.
In this competition, everyone is a winner. This event would not be possible without the amazing support of the Cranford Rotary Club and we appreciate all that they do for our entire community. We look forward to seeing you on February 26th!
