$6K in New Grants Fund Literacy in Cranford

Cranford schools receive grants from TD Bank, Wal-Mart for reading program.

Grants from TD Bank and Wal-Mart are helping to fund literacy programs for students in Cranford.

Specifically, a $5,000 grant from the TD Bank Foundation, awarded in October to the Cranford Fund for Educational Excellence, a partner to the Cranford Public Schools, and a $1,000 grant from Wal-Mart in Watchung, are helping fund the 2009-2010 Cranford School District Reading Academy.

The CSDA Program, in its sixth year, helps students overcome severe reading issues like dyslexia, and is fully funded through grants and donations.

Wal-Mart has been a regular supporter of the CSDA, funding $16,000 in grants since 2006 to enable students in need to gain the extra reading help they need to read.

Those with questions about the CSDA should contact Lead Program Instructor Ms. Lorraine Madden at maddenlo@cranfordschools.org.
